In this programme, the language of instruction is English. Studies are completed based on the currently valid curriculum. In case the student has completed a part of the course in accordance with the curriculum valid in the previous academic year, the student has the right to complete the course based on requirements defined in the previous curriculum by the end of August. After this, the requirements for completing the course are determined in the new curriculum. Students compile a personal study plan in the Peppi system and students are personally responsible for updating and following their Personal Stydy Plan (PSP) throughout their studies.\r\n\r\n**Exams** \r\n\r\nIf the course is completed with an examination or a corresponding method, it has to be organised at least three times with the same requirements. The first examination is arranged immediately after the course ends, the latter two examinations have to be organised within one year of the first examination. The dates of the examinations must be announced in the syllabus or at the beginning of the course at the latest. \r\n\r\n**Internship** \r\n\r\nThe master's degree can include a (research) internship related to the field of study as an optional course of 6-12 ECTS credits. \r\n \r\n**Thesis** \r\n\r\nFor the Master of Science degree, students prepare a master's thesis as a part of the mandatory major studies. It is prepared based on research project work. The Master's thesis must demonstrate the student’s ability for scientific thinking, mastery of the necessary research methods, familiarity with the topic of the thesis and the ability to use scientific language in English.  \r\n\r\nA person with at least a higher university degree can act as a supervisor. A Master's thesis must have at least two examiners. One of the examiners is an expert in the field outside the research group, and the supervisor acts as the second examiner. Both examiners need to have a PhD. Research Center Board will appoint the examiners with the authorization of the Faculty of Medicine’s dean. The head of Clinical Department will decide on the acceptance and the final grade of the master’s thesis based on the opinion of the examiners. The master's thesis is written in English. More detailed practical instructions regarding the theses are given separately.  \r\n\r\n**Evaluating studies**  \r\n\r\nStudy modules are graded on a scale of excellent, very good, good, satisfactory, sufficient passable, and failure on a scale of 5–1 based on the grade point average weighted by the graded courses’ extent unless otherwise specified in the study guide. \r\n\r\n**Accreditation of studies completed elsewhere**  \r\n\r\nStudies completed at another university, higher education institution or other institution might be either accepted to be included into the degree studies or to substitute studies that are part of the current curriculum. Education coordinator assesses applications for inclusion and the teacher responsible for the course evaluates applications to substitute a distinct course, respectively. As a general rule, the Center for Language and Communication Studies decides on substituting language studies. Studies completed elsewhere must fulfil the learning outcomes set for the degree and its parts.    \r\n\r\n**Enrollment and progress in studies**  \r\n\r\nThe studies are carried out in scheduled order for each semester.
