The experimental work is done in close cooperation with the supervisor and possibly with a research group. The student reports orally about the work during the experimental period, accepts comments about the advancement of the work and about the consequences of the results, holds responsibility for the implementation of the research plan, and when necessary, suggests modifications of the plan. In addition to the experiments, the student writes a Master´s thesis, which is a scientific report about the research and its results. The Introduction of the thesis explains earlier research in the field and defines the aims of the work. The research methods are explained in the Materials and Methods part, and the Results part reports the results. In the Discussion, the results are compared with literature and the wider significance of the results is discussed. A Master´s thesis typically contains 50-60 pages.
