Data gathering and data analysis methods are combined so that they make a comprehensive seamless study. The methods will be decided in the beginning of the course based on students’ interests. Potential data gathering methods include for example thematic interviews, delphi questionnaire and horizon scanning. Data analysis methods include (but are not limited to) cluster analysis, Causal Layered Analysis and futures table. Results are presented in the form of images of the future or scenarios. During and between the intensive days, students work in teams and carry out hands on research using their selected method combination. The teams are guided by assigned teachers.
