They discuss the cultural / social /cross-cultural demands and expectations of academic writing in a second language (English) in relation to their own writing contexts and will analyze the typical sections of a research proposal using the CARS framework (Creating a Research Space). By conducting an in-depth analysis of each section at various levels e.g. text organization, rhetorical, discourse, linguistic, and grammatical devices, the students identify the features particular to the section and apply this to their own writing. In order to develop self-regulation strategies, the students will collaborate on peer assessment tasks, conduct sustainable peer feedback, critically evaluate and communicate their research to the group. Finally, they evaluate their overall performance and engage in critical reflection & inquiry.
